The COVID-19 (coronavirus) is having an impact on Urban Sketcher (USk) chapters around the world. Some USk administrators have reported that sketching meetups in their cities have been prohibited or cancelled. With 300 chapters around the world, some urban sketchers are in cities that are at the epicenter of this crisis. Let’s keep them all in our thoughts and prayers.
In Ottawa (Canada) we should be careful/cautious but there is no need at this time to avoid sketching meetups. I am interested in hearing your thoughts on this subject. Please use the comment section below.
Daily Sketch: "Byward Market Spring Melt" Art Journal sketch by Cindi Moynahan-Foreman (watercolour on 100% cotton paper) |
The snow is starting to melt in Ottawa and here are three things I’m working on this month:
- We have not met in January or February because of my schedule and lack of availability. I apologize. I am looking to book an event for March and have written to the NAC again for date suggestions.
- I will be posting our March 2020 online urban sketching challenge (#3) by the end of this week.
- I have started discussions with Ottawa City about the Ottawa Urban sketchers partnering with the City of Ottawa and possibly having an art show. The Montreal urban sketcher chapter partnered with Heritage Montreal to make a collective exhibition of drawings and watercolours made in situ, celebrating the architectural and landscape wealth of the Lachine Canal and its surroundings. this last summer and it was a great success!
