International Education Program
Our Ottawa workshop was made possible through the urban sketchers education team and we would like to especially thank USk Education Director Mário Linhares (He hosts his personal blog and founded the Urban Sketchers Portugal chapter in 2009.)
From the website http://www.urbansketchers.org/p/workshops.html. :
"In an effort to foster educational opportunities for sketching enthusiasts, The Urban Sketchers Workshops Program supports artists interested in teaching urban sketching.
The program is an extension of our international urban sketching Symposiums. It aims to bring the educational experience of the Symposiums to any city where a qualified instructor can impart a workshop.
Urban Sketchers Workshops are taught by international and regional correspondents who contribute to our network of blog sites.
Workshops may vary, as their instructors do, in style and substance, but all share common goals: to focus on issues of artistic creation, such as drawing, composition, techniques and materials; and creative approaches, such as vision, expression, story-telling and reportage."

Sketchers from Toronto, Waterloo, Chicago, Michigan and Spain who had attended Shari's Saturday workshop met again on Sunday morning at the National Gallery of Canada and sketched for a couple of hours together before heading home.
And Brenda Murray, Waterloo urban sketcher and Urban Sketcher Managing Editor of "Drawing Attention", got to meet our Ottawa urban sketcher who holds the record for being our "Youngest Ottawa Urban Sketcher"

What a great post Cindi! You have said it all. It was a perfect day and thanks to your great organizing, a perfect workshop too. Thanks to everyone who attended! I will certainly share this link!!
ReplyDeleteWe are so grateful that you took time out of your incredibly busy schedule to offer this workshop. I know that we could have filled LOTS more sessions with all the folks on the waiting list.
DeleteThat just means you will have to come back again - we would love that! Your workshop was amazing!
Sending you heartfelt thanks on behalf of the Ottawa Urban Sketchers
I have a feeling I will be back Cindi. Thanks again for the warm welcome!
DeleteGreat workshop, great city, great people! We had a wonderful weekend of sketching and learning and eating and drinking! Sketched the Byward Market, the neoGothic splendour of Parliament Hill, a night sketch from the Andaz rooftop bar, visited the Gordon Harrison gallery (wow) and the National Gallery of Art, strolled the canal under a big yellow sun! Wonderful! Would be a great place for the symposium! Hope to organize some joint sketching events in future! Thank you Shari for a great workshop and Cindi for organizing! :)
